We can pretend it’s slang for being crazy or something. But we know the truth. It means you went in a cup of shit. A 3-foot cup of shit. After being shrunk by a ray-gun. A half full cup of shit. (Or half empty.) That's in the corner of Steve's room. So it can be looked at. Or eaten. Your choice. You can do whatever you want with it.

August: Yosemite!

September: Edward chews her stomach fur and gets to be emo in a cone

October: Halloween, yay! also midterms, boo! also, Adam leaves post-its with random pictures around our house, luckily the penis and boobs are found before anyone else sees.

[I have no Halloween pics, someone please send them to me, or at least post one where I don't look stupid]

November: craploads of papers and presentations, one including a happy cow

December: making a bag that looks like a jellyfish is totally the same as studying for finals, right?

So all in all, it’s been a decent year so far. And I’ve discovered that we don’t take very many pictures except for in Yosemite. I’ll have to work on that so I have more options for next year.

Gawker learned a few lessons in security recently. Not that I’m some expert, but their shit got straight hacked. They say “compromised” but <del datetime="2010-12-13T23:38:43+00:00">this link tells a different story</del> [updated link]. Apparently they were using a really outdated encryption algorithm and only stored the first eight characters for each password. In the link provided, hackers have listed all people that use “password” and “qwerty” as their passwords. As with most other knowledge, I got this info from reddit.

Anyways, if any cuppers have an account with any Gawker websites, you definitely need to change it. And if you use that same pass with other sites, change that too!

[EDIT] Guess, the data is <del datetime="2010-12-13T23:40:00+00:00">available via torrent</del> [torrent down] now…
[EDIT2] Well, uhhh, I’ve seen some of the data released and can confirm my account and moose’s show up…granted, our passwords are encrypted, but from what I’ve read, a decent brute force attack can crack them. I’ll probably try to crack my own at some point. Also, I’ve read that the new password you create on gawker should be a throwaway because they aren’t quite secure yet….sigh….
[EDIT3] Good recap of this whole gawker shit-storm

So yeah its been a while. I don’t mean to bring people down but I’ve explained this whole thing a few times, and it finally has a happy ending-ish.

Last month has been pretty crazy for everyone in my family. It started with Ashley bending the driver side door of her car a scosh too far the wrong way while leaving to go to a wedding. Followed by my dad attempting to drive back from Santa Cruz (~2:30 hours) and realizing that he was slowly loosing his clutch/braking power starting at about 5 minutes in. Apparently on a mini the two use the same fluid. Meanwhile my tire was going flat. To add to all of this the next week my Grandfather on my mom’s side took the dog out for a walk and was toppled when wizzer ( a tiny little white fuzzball of a dog) decided to chase down a squirrel or something. The next day Indy, my parents overweight beagle, decided he was still a puppy and jumped down from a tall chair only to find out that his knee wasn’t up for the task. Little did we know that the next week my Grandmother on the other side of the family would soon be taken out by a dastardly maple leaf attack squad. Work as a pair two leaves of unusual size (LoUS’s) sent the ground up to meet her faster than she was ready for. She was quoted as saying “I saw the one leaf and I made sure not to step on it as I knew it was going to be slippery, but then there was another one that was even bigger and whoop I feel”. Both grandparents ended up with a broken hip and Indy managed only to severely blow out his knee. Unfortunately mom had her birthday ruined as she was alone all night, and told that her father wasn’t going to survive the week. We did also have a very downer thanksgiving as the matriarch and patriarch of both sides of the family were out of commission in the hospital.

Now safely 8 days into December things are looking entirely different. Everyone is back home and healing well. Spirits are raised, and things are a lot less bleak. Turns out my Grandpa will be fine and he wasn’t really that close to the end, just had a few too many things going on all at once (hip, fever, blisters, crappy hospital bed, rash) and it was mistaken for his body shutting down. My Grandma is doing great and actually beat my grandpa back home. She was out after only 5 days. Unfortunately she is having her alcohol levels limited since shes on real meds, but other than that she’s in great spirits. Indy is doing ok, he had to wait a while to get the surgery as the humans of the family took precedence and the swelling around his knee needed to go down before they could operate. Last I heard he is healing quickly and they are most afraid that he’ll go back to his normal routine too quickly and re-injure himself. Being too healthy is always what one should aim for, makes the doctors nervous. He does however have a generously shaved butt from what I hear, I’ll change the picture when I get a good shot.

The cars are a different story however. The mini is alive again, my car is still limping faithfully *knock on wood*, but Ash’s ford is DOA for the foreseeable future. So if you see a $500-$2000 beater that runs solid let me know. Apparently there’s one that we need to check out that’s the exact twin of her car, minus the issues, just down the street from my grandma… it is a small world.

Ok well I think that’s it for the drama updates. Just needed to get that out.
